I had just removed 2 of my wisdom tooth on tuesday morning and the next day, the swelling has become worse! The 2 of the wisdom tooth is on my left side, both upper and lower which I needed a surgery for my lower one. Recalling the moment that I had to go to the dentist tuesday morning, wow my heart was beating faster than usual.
Just before the dentist gives the anesthetic jab, my heart was pumping so fast that I can feel the heartbeat! As it was my first time extracting wisdom tooth, my dentist explained to me and gave me an opinion if I would want to remove one or two of my tooth on the same side. I went for the first option which is to take out one first and see if I could bear with the pain to go on with the second tooth.
The clinic I went to has a practice where surgery is involved for wisdom tooth, they will need to cover up our face which I personally think it is good as patient like me need not to see those instruments they used during the process. The first tooth extraction was fast which took about 10-15 minutes and during the whole process, I was guided by my dentist on what he is going to do next etc which gives me some time to mentally prepare especially the part which he needs to "saw" my tooth into half first.
I decided to go for the second upper tooth removal as well which is a normal extraction. My extraction cost a total of $100 for the normal one and $800 for my surgery tooth which is deducted by my medisave. Thank God for medisave. The dentist gave me some painkillers, antibiotic and mouth riser. Thank God that my bleeding stopped after the anesthetic went off about 2 hours later.
Today is the 3rd day after I extracted my tooth and couldn't have been better as yesterday was my worse day where my left face swelled until so badly. I looked as if I was boxed by someone with some light bruises surfaced. My face was totally out of shaped which I don't dare to go out to buy food.
Thankfully the swelling subsided and now it is better but still swollen. I still have to stick to my liquid diet - 3 in 1 cereal oat, ice-cream, whipped potato and instant porridge! Still got a few more days to rest and be charged up before going back to work.
If you are going for wisdom tooth extraction, be mentally and physically prepared cos I did not expect my physical face to be that bad! Haha... Well I shall see when I shall remove other side tooth!
My lower first molar is very sensitive to hot and cold. From yesterday it started paining and now the swelling is also there. Should I go for extraction?
ReplyDeleteI can almost feel the pain you had experienced in your tooth extraction, the way you describe the whole process. I know this experience was not easy because I had already experienced it. But you were able to face it with great courage. It’s an advantage that you are mentally and physically prepared with it.
ReplyDelete“If you are going for wisdom tooth extraction, be mentally and physically prepared…” – Agreed! Wisdom tooth extraction is a tough dental procedure, so you really need to condition yourself. If you know what to expect from the procedure, then there’s a good chance that you’ll heal faster.
ReplyDeleteOuch. I hope the extraction of the other side tooth wasn't as painful. Though I bet you were more than relieved when those problematic teeth are gone. Have a good day! -- Anny B. Vera DDS PA
