Krabi 2012 (Day 1)

Finally we are making our way to Krabi! It was meant for my birthday treat in July but due to my exams and busy schedule, we delayed it till now. Me and hubby went for 4D3N from 9-12 September 2012. Although it is 4D3N, it was actually more like 3D3N as we took Tiger Airway which their to and fro flights are all in the morning.

Beautiful view from my window seat...

We checked into our hotel called L Resort which is located at Ao Nang Beach. Ao Nang Beach is one of the popular beach where tourists like to stay and it is about 30 minutes from Krabi International Airport.

To save the hussle, we arranged for hotel pick-up for 600 bahts which is the same rates you can get from the airport cabs.

Resort reception...where we were served with welcome drink - Dragonfruit! and greeted by the resort owner.

I was pretty impressed with their front lobby which gave a good first impression to the guests. The main color is purple which stood out from their design of marbles and furniture.

Our house for the next 3 nights...

The room is pretty simple and spacious. This is their standard room which we paid about $70 per night (promotion). Should you want to upgrade, you need to top up another 1500 bahts! I actually asked them when we checked in but it was out of my "budget", not worth to pay these extra 4500 bahts.

Overall, the room is ok for us especially me cos I am more particular with room when going overseas. The Management could have done a better job in their touchup works (oops, work habit coming in) and slight leaking from the air-conditioning.

This is my personal experience based on this trip so it may not happen to others. So if you are not too particular about these things, you can consider this resort.

After settling in the room and resting for 2 hours, we went to the nearby BK just less than 100m from our resort for some bites before we explore the surrounding. I would say their BK pricing is higher than Singapore as each set meal is like almost $10.

We booked a tuk tuk for 1100 baht to and fro Krabi Town Night Market and Factory Outlet. The factory outlet at Krabi is super smaller as compared to Phuket although the price is still cheap for some things. In Phuket, the factory outlet individual brands have their own store but in Krabi, it is all housed under one similar to a department concept.

Well, since the factory outlet did not appeal much to us, we took like 20 minutes to explore and Dear bought somes Nike socks before we asked our driver to bring us to Big C supermarket which is just nearby. The uncle is fine as we already booked him for the whole day.

At their Big C, I actually bought some instant noodles flavours which cannot be found in Singapore. Over at Big C, there are also other shops which Boots is one of them. Immediately, I quickly went in and bought my shampoo, conditioners etc! Haha.. one of my favourite thing to do in Thailand is going Boots cos you will be spoiled for choices.

We moved on to the night market about 6pm. Some snacks as we explore the nightlife. First snack -Chicken sausage which we bought 6 for 20 bahts! It is a simple snack where bit of chilli and small chicken sausage rolled up in a pancake skin.

Fishball - 1 stick for 5 bahts. The chilli sauce was yummy!!!

The night market sells almost anything from slippers to clothes, souvenirs and home decor items...

There is also a centre stage in the market but you need to be there early to get seats to sit around. There would be singing performance, fire act etc...

We spent about an hour at the market which I bought 1 top and few pairs of earrings before we left. It was quite stuffy and warm for us. We went back to the nearby streets around our resort and settled for a proper dinner at La casa. They were having some promotion - 1 pizza or pasta for 150 bahts with free wifi.

My carbonara pasta...

Dear's prosciutto pizza with generous serving of ham! They actually have those "charcoal wood stove" oven to cook the pizza rather than using the oven. The pizza came out having the charcoal burnt smell and tasted really good.

That's all for my first day in Krabi. Will share in the next few posts on a day tour and Phi Phi Island!
