Tiger Cave Temple is located just on the outskirts of Krabi Town. This Buddhist temple is renown for it's astounding beauty and it makes for an excellent day trip for travelers in Krabi, Ao Nang, Phangna, or Ko Lanta.
The temple is known as Tiger Cave Temple because when it was initially founded by Ajarn Jumnien it had a tiger living in a cave that has now become a central part of this Buddhist temple and an interesting room to climb up into. However it was under renovation so we were not able to visit it.
There is also a climb up 1,237 steps to the top of a 260 meter high mountain peak that is great fun and the reward at the top includes nice views and free cold water which we tried a fews before getting the water out!
This is where the 1,237 steps to mountain top starts...
The steps were really steep. I estimate each step is about 2 feet high and 1 feet width only for your foot.
We were sweating non-stop while climbing up the steps. You can see the sweats on my face!
There was this monk that giggle at me while he was making his way down. Perhaps it was due to my much interval stops, tired face and lot of sweat and panting, he laugh at me. I was a little irritated but funny at the same time.
Well, just another thought on the monks who stays there and definitely climbing these 1,237 steps is simple for them after many years of training. We even saw one dog that came down the steps so quickly. For a moment, I was worried for the dog thinking based on the speed he is moving down, he may not brake in time for the turn but surprisingly he merely made it.
Finally, we arrived at the peak after almost an hour climb! Gosh.. age is catching up and we need to really exercise. Though it was a tough and tiring climb, nevertheless we completed it and it was really a sense of achievement.
You can see Dear in the photo on the very moment he reaches the top, he actually threw his things down and laid flat (thou I did not managed to get that shot). He was exhausted and bit exaggerating lah... haha!
The view from the top during evening time about 545pm.
Just us at the top of the mountain...
There is also this statue Buddha...
It took us another 40 minutes to go down to the bottom and when we started going down, wow... our legs were "dancing". I could feel my legs shaking from the climb up! So going down, it is even harder as you need to watch your steps and balance. I was literally holding on to the railing as I went down.
As we reached the bottom, we saw these small littles puppies that is adorable. The brown was actually poo-ing! Opps..Haha
We went back to wash up and rested for a while before we walked around and settled for the street food for dinner...
Grilled chicken! Yummy...
Seafood basil rice... Bit oily for me although Dear likes it...
Green curry...
Prawn and tomato fried egg...
The dishes have those "home-cooked" style as they cooked it on the spot including the green curry so it is very fresh! With such nice food, we cannot miss out ordering this ice blended dragon fruit which is very refreshing.
What a great day to end our second day in Krabi! Next post on day 3 coming up soon...
