Bangkok 2013 Day 4 - Terminal 21

Another quick short day at Terminal 21 at Asok Station, a new shopping mall opened in October 2011.  This concept is market streets of the world. It decorated a well-known city streets; such as Rome, Paris, Tokyo London, Istanbul etc. This mall has the longest escalators in Thailand, up to 36 metres.















Even the toilets are themed accordingly to the level. I am impressed with the decoration!

To get to Terminal 21 address at Sukhumvit Rd you can take via BTS Asok Station or via MRT Sukhumvit Station.

Bangkok 2013 Day 4 - Roast Cafe & Bistro

Before this trip, Ash and myself had been wanting to find a cafe to have brunch and chill out! I goggled and found a few but in the end shortlisted this cafe called Roast!

There was a handful of positive reviews on this cafe. We took quite a while to find our way there.




We had to queue for about half an hour as it was full house. We were surprised that it was packed with many locals and expatriates with family. I guess we came to the right place!

We got a seat at the corner where we were more separated from the crowd. The menu was presented to us like a newspaper.







Roast offer brunch and lunch menu. We settled for the recommendation on display and ordered Crab Cake Benedict, Corned Beef Hash and strawberry waffle.

First, our drinks were served in about 10 to 15 minutes.



There were free wifi that you can tap on so while waiting for our food, we were busy posting our photos online.

My main dish - Crab Cake Benedict came first! It was a pretty dish and portion was small. The food tasted great with the combination of the sauce.



Next is the Corn Beef Hash! Those who love beef, you probably would love this more than me.



Dessert! Strawberry waffle with ice-cream... yummy



We spent about 2 hours eating and chilling there. Simply enjoyable brunch.

Bangkok 2013 Day 3 - Asiatique The Riverfront

Hello everyone, it has been some time since I last posted as I was overseas to South Korea (will follow-up with blog posts) and busy at work. I will quickly finish up all my posts on Bangkok and embark on my South Korea trip!

I am so excited to share about my South Korea trip but for now, let's continue with Bangkok Day 3 where me and Ash took a free shuttle boat ride from Saphan Taksin BTS station to Asiatique The Riverfront. This place is a combination of both mall and night bazzar shopping.

They have this beautiful ferries wheel which you need to pay about $10 per pax to ride it.





Beside shopping, there is also some restaurants and "food court" where we had a quick dinner before our manicure session!








The bill came up to about 200+ bahts including drinks which is quite reasonable. Ending off with a snapshot of the ferris wheel!

How to get there: The easiest and fastest way to get there is via boat. Take the BTS to Saphan Taksin and jump on the free shuttle at the end of the pier. It only takes ten minutes, and the boat runs until 23:00. Taxis are not recommended as the traffic can be terrible in this area. 

Bangkok 2013 - Day 2 & Japanese BBQ @ Gyu-Kaku

Day 2 - Since we are staying at Pratunam area, it is not just about shopping. We will go for the street food in morning and late night. For morning, we usually go for ice thai tea (about 25 bahts for small, 45 bahts for big) and of course all time favourite otah (one packet about 20 bahts)!

Our loots for the day! Just one day! First time in my life I ever bought so much clothes within a day! Those who knows me I am not that sort of person who will go crazy over/during shopping.

After unpacking and freshen up, we went for dinner at Gyu-Kaku where Ashley highly recommend!







Specialty salad- Fantastic sauce!


Garlic fried rice - Not bad! Personally I like more garlic inside



Grilled mushroom - Juicy and tasty



Our main dish - Beef and Pork which is simply fresh and delicious!











We spent about 1400 bahts for all the above! Definitely worth it cos it is so much more expensive in Singapore. That's all for Day 2! Coming up Day 3!

Bangkok 2013 - Day 1 & The 93 Hotel

Just a week before Chinese New Year, me and Ashley flew off to the land of smiles! Yes... Bangkok! For a shopping spree that I had never expected of myself.

We were supposed to take a 5pm Scoot flight but we were informed via email at almost 330pm that it was delayed till 1115pm. We were already on the way to airport so in the end we went to Tampines for a bite. Thankfully another email came in and the flight was re-time to 830pm!

Phew! By the time we reached our hotel, it was almost 12 midnight and both of us are dead tired. We checked in to a new hotel called The 93 Hotel which is located near Pratunum market. We only paid about $70 per night for the deluxe (best) room they have...

 



Hungry and tired, we went down nearby to buy some drinks and hopefully to buy the pad thai that we used to frequent at the street stall. But it was closed that night and we had to settle for char siew noodle which we half-heartly ordered.

But to our surprised, it was delicious! Simple seasoning of the noodle and the char siew meat is soft and sweet. Another thing is one packet only cost 20bahts! Where can you find this in Singapore? Haha
