Happiness in life begins the moment I place my trust in the unchanging character of God.
Psalm 119:52
“I meditate on your age-old laws; O Lord, they comfort me.” (NLT)
Psalm 119:55 - 56
“I reflect at night on who you are, O Lord, and I obey your law because of this. This is my happy way of life: obeying Your commandments.” (NLT)
Believing the character of God is the foundation of Christianity. There is one scripture that all of humanity hinges upon – Numbers 23:19, “God is not a man, that he should lie. He is not a human, that he should change his mind. Has he ever spoken and failed to act? Has he ever promised and not carried it through?”
What we believe only holds true in accordance with our understanding of God’s character. Who God is does not change us until we make the decision to trust His character. God is not a man…He will not lie. God is faithful to His Word.
As these truths become the core of our belief system, obedience will become easier. When we trust God’s character, we will no longer be affected by our emotions and led astray because of them. Emotions are good, but they are not to be lived by. Satan is a deceiver and uses our emotions to cause us to stumble. But, God is God and needs to be trusted for who He is and not just for what He does.
It is necessary to search out and study the character of God; as we do our emotions will soon line up and prove to the world who He truly is.
