Chinatown Yuan Fa Claypot Rice

Me and Dear went down to Chinatown food centre one day after work. We were actually going to a newly opened store by our friend but it happened to be closed on a monday.

We then settled for Yuan Fa Claypot Rice which Dear and his family used to frequent when he was small.

Since it was almost 8pm, the crowded had died down but we had to wait for about 40 minutes. The rice is cooked over the hot claypot that is why it takes so long.

Finally our claypot chicken rice ($8 for 2 pax) is here!

They will bring over the sesame oil and dark soya sauce so we can add accordingly to how much we like.

The claypot rice was really delicious however the chicken portion is a bit little. You can top up the ingredients for a few more dollars. I also ordered a serving of watercress soup which is only $2! Super nice!

While waiting for the claypot rice, I was feeling hungry already so we ordered a peanut paste ($1.50) just 2 store away to share... I always used to eat the dessert from this store when I was young while we were still staying at Cantonment Road.

There was this another store next to the claypot which something caught my eye... Scallop porridge which is only at $1.20, the other regular fish/cuttlefish etc is about $2.50 to $4.00. Dear was telling me that they sell like less than a dollar many many years ago.

Well I am not not be a lover of scallop but since it is cheap, I may try this when I am back at Chinatown food centre... Haha...

Have a great week ahead after a long weekend!
